Holidays are the part of Religion

Share

O servants of Allah, I remind you that holidays are an integral part of religion, indicating a person’s religious affiliation, therefore the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), when he moved to Medina and saw that people were celebrating two holidays (Nawruz and Mahrajan), he asked about those days. He was told that on these days we celebrate and rejoice. Then he told them: “Allah has replaced these days for you with two better days: Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha.” [1]

⛔️ Therefore, you cannot celebrate any holidays except those that your Creator, your Almighty, established for you. You cannot congratulate them, you cannot participate in them, you cannot help in their celebration.

مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ

“Whoever is likened to a nation is one of them.” [2]

1] It is reported that Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived in Medina, its inhabitants [the Ansars] had two holidays [Nawruz and Mahrajan], during the time they played. He asked them: “What days are these?” They replied: “These are the days on which we played and had fun, (celebrating) them in the times of ignorance / jahiliyya /.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Verily, Allah has replaced them for you with two better (holidays) than them: the Day of Sacrifice [Eid al-Adha] and the Day of Breaking the Fast [Eid al-Fitr].” Hadith narrated by Abu Dawud (1134). Sheikh al-Albani said: “Authentic hadith /sahih/.” The isnad of this hadith is authentic according to the terms of Muslim, and the same was said by al-Hakim, with whom al-Dhahabi agreed. See Sahih Abi Daud (4/297).

2] Abu Daoud. Al-Sunan, hadith No. 4031. Sheikh al-Albani confirmed the authenticity of the hadith in “Irwa-ul-galil” (Vol. 5. P. 109).
